THE NESTLING

is an 18' original piece designed for the 2009 Hoffman Challenge. Challenge
fabric is in the wings and skirt.

The doll's face - which is needle
sculpted, painted and sealed - is
made from doe suede, as are her
hands. Arms, legs and body are
cotton coordinates.

She has a full body armature that
fixes her permanently to her base
and allows movement in her pose.
One leg is bent as she climbs the
tree with arms outstretched to
lift her newborn fairy from its nest.

Nestling is attached to wood base,
and the tree is a piece of ivy wood,
sanded and stained.

Tiny fairy measures 3 inches.
